One of the wonderful things about illuminating the beautiful outdoors and natural habitats that we enjoy here in Florida is that the magic of it all never gets lost on us.
This is especially true at this time of year as sea turtles and their baby turtle hatchlings crawl out of our Florida coastal sands to return to the water.
Your Clearwater Turtle Friendly Outdoor Lighting Specialists
As the premiere outdoor lighting company serving Clearwater, Tampa, and St. Petersburg, we pride ourselves on respecting our environment by practicing a conscientious use of outdoor illumination.
A prime example of our commitment to this responsibility is our use of turtle-friendly outdoor lighting following the guidelines of The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
They have developed a model lighting ordinance as a guideline to help coastal counties and municipalities in Florida develop their own local ordinances to protect sea turtles from the adverse effects of artificial lighting.
For our beachfront clients, we take special care to ensure that their outdoor lighting designs and installations adhere to these FWC sea turtle protection guidelines.
What Is So Special About Clearwater Turtle Friendly Outdoor Lighting?
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives serving Clearwater, Tampa, and St. Petersburg takes extra care as to how our energy-efficient outdoor lighting casts its illuminations.
Our turtle-friendly lighting uses long-wavelength light, which is directed downward, low to the ground, and is shielded. Turtle-friendly lighting is specifically designed to minimize the ecological impact that traditional lighting can have on turtles and wildlife, especially near oceans and beaches.
We address these needs for our beachfront customers by offering them the choice of trading out their traditional warm white LED outdoor lights to amber LED in order to meet their needs.
When Is Sea Turtle Nesting Season And How Long Does It Last?
Sea turtle nesting season when turtle-friendly outdoor lighting and sea turtle outdoor lights are most important starts May 1 and continues until October 31 annually.
It is interesting to note that about 90% of all sea turtle nesting in the United States takes place on Florida's beaches, which means it is critical that residents and visitors alike do their part to ensure that sea turtles have a safe and successful nesting season.
